Benedictine Abbey of Cluny

Today one can hardly imagine that about 1,000 years ago, Cluny was the religious center of Europe.  Until the construction of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome was finished, the cloister of Cluny III was the largest church in Christianity. Visit the remains of the five naves of this stunning church and discover the fascinating way of life of the monks, up to 10,000 of which lived in the cloister of Cluny during the Middle Ages.  Duration - 4 hours

Perouges

After only 45 minutes you will reach the loveliest town in France, the medieval town of Perouges. This town's history goes back to pre-Christian time and has been the backdrop for many filmmakers due to its uniqueness and beauty.  The townscape today is characterized by medieval buildings and cobble-stoned streets.  Handiwork and weaving are the main crafts here. Pont Du Gard Aqueduct

The structure that crosses the Rhone tributary Gardon is world famous: the perfectly preserved Pont du Gard. This three level Rome aqueduct is over 900 feet long and while used, over 2,000 years ago, it transported over 5 million gallons of water per day. Duration - 4.5 hours

Wine tasting at Tournon Castle

Tournon, and especially Tain l'Hermitage on the opposite river bank, are famous for their wines. The small hill of Tain l'Hermitage is the most expensive vineyard in the world and produces only a few varietals of wines.
