Boston, MA (June 2016) – Emerald Waterways is pleased to announce that its popular Enchantments of Eastern Europe river cruise is the subject of the 2016 Silver Telly Award winning episode of Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope. The Telly Awards honor the finest film and video productions, groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films, and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs. The Silver Telly is the awards’ highest honor. The winning episode, which was also Emmy nominated for audio and cinematography, explores the many highlights of this lesser-traveled part of the Danube, from the awe-inspiring skyline of Budapest to the well-preserved Old Town in the vibrant and culturally rich city of Bucharest.
The Silver Telly winning episode of Travelscope, a program that has aired on public television for eight seasons and introduces viewers to other cultures worldwide and inspires them to travel, chronicles host Joseph Rosendo sailing the Danube with Emerald Waterways on their Enchantment of Eastern Europe river cruise. The 10-day cruise took Joseph from the capital cities of Budapest to Bucharest, passing through Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. Highlights include visits to a horse farm in the historic Hungarian city of Kalocsa, where the exceptional riding skills of the local Maygar horsemen are on display; a home-hosted lunch with a local Croatian family in the quaint town of Osjek; a tour of the ancient fortress and distinct neighborhoods of Belgrade, uncovering the turbulent history of the Serbian capital; and the incredible trip through the Iron Gate, the narrow gorge between the European Alps and Carpathian Mountains, which also forms the Serbia-Romania border, from the deck of the Emerald Dawn.
"Emerald’s Enchantments of Eastern Europe cruise is an excellent way for travelers to be introduced to this little known part of Europe,” says Travelscope host Joseph Rosendo. “We were particularly impressed with the way Emerald gives passengers an opportunity to have genuine, authentic experiences with the people in the cities and countries that are part of the journey. Those interactions are what our viewers tell us they are looking for in their travel adventures and have been the main focus of every episode of Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope. Introducing people to people is our mission and, obviously, one of Emerald’s goals.”
With 11 departures scheduled for 2017, the Enchantments of Eastern Europe sailing starts at just $2,995 per person, based on double occupancy. Guests booking before September 2, 2016 are eligible for reduced airfare rates starting at $995, plus €100 per person to spend onboard.
