Boston, MA, October 2015 – Emerald Waterways, Europe’s newest river cruise company, has been awarded “Best River Line for Value” in Cruise Critic’s 2015 Editors’ Picks Awards. The Cruise Critic Editors' Picks Awards are chosen by Cruise Critic's international team of editors, based on the lines and ships they feel best represent excellence in each of the designated categories. In 2014, Emerald Waterways won the “Best New River Ships” designation their Emerald Star and Emerald Sky “Star-Ships.”
Emerald was chosen in this category for its generous list of inclusions, such as complimentary shore excursions and transfers, prepaid gratuities and free beverages (including wine and beer at lunch and dinner) offered at a lower price point. Other innovations Emerald Waterways was lauded for include an indoor pool, which transforms into a movie theater at night and, in some cabins, a floor-to-ceiling window that drops down halfway.
“We put a lot of effort into creating a guest experience that is both upscale and affordable,” said Glen Moroney, founder and managing director of the Scenic Group, the parent company for Emerald Waterways. “We’re very proud that our efforts to raise the standards on European river ships has been recognized by Cruise Critic as they share a similar benchmark amongst the cruise review and information publications.”
Emerald Waterways added five new itineraries to their roster for 2016, bringing the total to 16. The 16-day “Highlights of Vietnam & Cambodia and Mekong River Cruise” and “Mystical Myanmar and Irrawaddy River Cruise” along with the 10-day “Irrawaddy River Cruise,” represent the line’s first foray into Asian. In Europe, the new Danube Explorer is an eight-day sailing from Passau to Budapest with optional land tours in Munich, while the eight-day “Legends of Moselle, Rhine and Main explored this historic area between Trier and Nuremberg, Germany.
As part of the Scenic Group, Emerald Waterways is backed by the award-winning expertise of the world’s leading luxury river cruise operator.
